We’re in the early summer season when soft fruits appear in the market. The bountiful strawberry crop of the past several weeks is ending. But blackberries, raspberries, cherries and other berries are taking their place in the farmers’ stands. And there is the possibility of a few early peaches! Recommend you visit the Westover Farmers Market early Sunday to have the best selection of seasonal fruits.
For those of you staycationing this Memorial Day, come on down to the market to sample the latest in whats fresh and good. We’ll be there, 8 am to noon, enjoying the arrival of summer.
Its fresh, its here, so come down and get some! Can’t ask for better produce to start the season.
In case the weather confused you about the “summer” market opening last week, come celebrate tomorrow at WFM, 8 am to noon. While you’re making the rounds, check out two of the new vendors joining us for the summer: Twogoodavocados and Bonita Woods Wellness Institute.
See you at the market.
Its officially summer at Westover Farmers Market, weather notwithstanding. The market hours beginning Sunday, May 1, are 8 am to noon. See you at the market!
The Westover Farmers Market will not take place on Sunday, March 27. We wish all a very happy Easter. And for those looking for some entertainment, on Saturday March 26 the annual Westover Easter Egg Hunt and associated festivities will take place behind the Reed School at 10:30 am. Guaranteed fun for the whole family. See you back at the market next on April 3.
A Westover Farmers Market seasonal recipe from International Palate:
There are some cooking ventures that are scarier than others. For some people, making pasta is something they would never try and leave the job to the professionals. Others may want to take on the challenge and try to make it themselves. But by the end of this recipe, you will see that making raviolis is not as hard as it may see. With the right ingredients, you can go far! Continue Reading
A new seasonal farmers market recipe from International Palate:
We all know that strange feeling when you realize that something you thought occurred a few weeks ago actually occurred a few months ago! The feeling presents itself more so as a shock…a shock of how quickly time goes by. Well, it’s 2016 and I’ve been waiting to share this recipe since May 2015…8 months ago. This recipe has been sitting on the back burner for quite some time now, only because it still feels like I made this recipe a week or so ago. But now, it’s finally time to share this recipe…before I forget about it again for another 12 months. Continue Reading.
The Westover Farmers Market will be open this Sunday during usual winter hours, 9 – 1. Vendors will be back with their seasonal fruits and vegetables and with wonderful baked goods and other locally prepared foods. Come to the market to see where all of last Sunday’s snow has been placed! A monumental effort by local market volunteers to get the market reopened.
On account of the impending snow and the likelihood of difficult travel conditions, the Westover Farmers Market will not take place on January 24. Impromptu snow angel competition on the Reed School plaza instead. Stay safe, and see you on January 31.
